Melissa’s classes are set up to be non-threatening, educational, and fun. The only personal sharing that is done is by Melissa herself, drawing upon her experience with the material and how it transformed her marriage.
You’ve probably heard of the wonderful work of David Schnarch, who wrote Passionate Marriage. His ideas are remarkable because he offers many fresh concepts that can keep a committed relationship dynamic, sustainable and enjoyable.

I consider his work profound because he believes in the necessity of fostering healthy individuality and healthy connectedness in a couple’s relationship. He recognizes that anxiety is a normal human condition that increases when someone means a lot to you, and learning how to self-soothe your own anxiety can allow more closeness to develop. He appreciates the wonderful possibilities of sensual and sexual pleasure that are inherent in a committed relationship. And most importantly, his ideas, when you apply them, actually work!
Some of my own clients attended her last series of classes, and it definitely has helped them, as well as me, in their individual and couple’s therapy.
Melissa is a relationship educator who has been teaching in Sebastopol and Graton. I wanted to make her classes more accessible for my clients and others in Petaluma, so I suggested she use my office on Monday nights.
I’ve known Melissa for over 20 years, and she is a wonderful woman in her own right, and the feedback is that she is a well-prepared and engaging teacher.
